Federal intervention in education has been a hot subject in the political scene, with multiple viewpoints and visions for the end goal. In this paper, we briefly discuss past interventions and look at why education needs a government intervention in the first place. Afterwards, dissecting the most popular views on how the United States government should intervene, we look at how and why the proposed solutions might solve for the failures of the education market. We conclude with how future policies should be made, keeping in mind the best way to achieve the social optimum for education.
